How to email a college coach, with the exact template
Coaches open short emails from athletes, not long emails from parents. Here is what to write and what to attach.
The rules
The athlete sends it. Not the parent. Coaches say this every single year. Keep it under 150 words. One link, not five attachments. Send it to the position coach or recruiting coordinator, not only the head coach, and send it from an email address with your name in it.
The template
Subject: [Sport] [Position] · Class of [Year] · [School], [State]
Coach [Last name],
My name is [First Last], a [position] in the class of [year] at [High School] in [City, State]. I am [height], [weight], with a [best measurable] and a [GPA]. Last season I [one line of real numbers].
My page has every season, film and my measurables in one link: [your page link]
I am interested in [School] because [one honest sentence]. I will be at [camp or game] on [date] if you would like to see me in person.
Thank you for your time.

What happens next
Most coaches will not reply to the first email, and that is normal. Send an update when something real happens: new film, a new measurable, a big game. Two or three updates across a season is right. Twenty is not.
Coaches are allowed to open your page and watch film any time. Some cannot write back until a certain date in your junior year. Silence is not always no.
